School District 71 Board Office

The new Comox Valley Schools (SD71) Board Office is located at 2488 Idiens Way in Courtenay, B.C. This project began construction in January 2023 and is scheduled to be completed the summer 2024. The building includes renovations to the original office area of 8000 s.f. and a new 2 storey addition of 7000 s.f. for 15,000 s.f. total building area.

The renovations included seismic upgrading of the existing building roof and wall structures. The project includes new mechanical HVAC systems and electrical communications, power, and lighting throughout the existing and new building areas.

A central courtyard was developed in the new addition design which allows for natural light to interior spaces in both the existing and new addition at the building interface. The courtyard also allows for a secured exterior space and privacy for the building occupants. Viewscapes and natural light are enhanced with large windows designed in the new building exterior walls on all exposures.

Metal cladding compliments the building exterior envelope system and results in a clean exterior façade to this new head office building for Comox Valley Schools.
